Butterfield expands environment studies scholarship to Singapore
Firm aims to help develop the next generation of leaders to improve and preserve islands
TO support the next generation of environmental leaders, global trust and fiduciary services provider Butterfield is now receiving applications for the US$25,000 Butterfield Postgraduate Scholarship that it awards each year to a student pursuing a postgraduate degree related to the preservation and improvement of island environments.
“Butterfield Trust in Asia is delighted to offer the postgraduate scholarship for the first time this year to students in Singapore,” says Brian Balleine, regional head of Butterfield’s trust office in Singapore. “The scholarship reinforces our commitment to develop the next generation of environment leaders.”
Barisse Griffin, who received the 2019 scholarship to fund her master’s degree in disasters, adaption and development management at King’s College in London, says: “The Butterfield Postgraduate Scholarship has given me a head-start in my career, enabling me to focus on my studies, while gaining experience in the field of disaster and development.”
The scholarship, tenable for up to four years of full-time study, is open to students from all ten jurisdictions in which Butterfield operates, including Guernsey, Jersey, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, the UK, The Bahamas, Switzerland, Mauritius and Singapore.
